SKALA BEACH – ACHERON RIVER, AMMOUDIA BEACH

Skala is not a very popular beach, located between the beaches of Alonaki and Ormos Odyssea. Skala has a favorable location which shelters the beach from wind. It is about 50 meters long, with soft sand and a seasonal cantine which offers drinks. The rocks around the beach are suitable for snorkeling, and just next to Skala, you can find a tiny rocky beach that is more likely to be empty all the time.

Ammoudia beach is located the delta of the famous Acheron river, its sandy with very long shallow.
Around Parga are mostly pebble beaches, thus Ammoudia is a real refreshment, especially for families with small children for whom the shallow at this beach is a paradise.
On the left side of the beach there is plenty of natural shade. The beach is long and wide enough that there is room and space for a relaxing stay for all visitors, for those who use the sunbeds as well as for those who have their own equipment. Several cafes offer parasols with sunbeds .This beach doesn’t have a turquoise colour of the sea, but the sea is clear and clean and the sand is very soft.

If you want an active day on the beach, you can go to Acheron River. The river is calm and shallow so you can relax in the shade of trees along the river and observe a variety of aquatic life (water turtles, beavers and otters) and take photographs.
There are taverns and cafes along the beach, where you can enjoy good food and refreshing drinks. If you are longing for a peaceful beach without crowd, perfect for children and non-swimmers, Ammoudia is a great choice close to Parga.
